To know Courtney is to love her.

Anyone who has met her knows what it's like to be in her presence. An uplifting, bubbly, and precious soul, Courtney exudes positive vibes. This is a hard mentality and personality to maintain when you're struggling internally.

To ask for help for yourself is an extremely difficult and humbling process, which is why I'm taking the time to ask for Courtney.

It's truly miraculous to see someone who battles a drug addiction to come forth and seek treatment. For Courtney, it's been a long time coming. For those of you who don't know, Juneau is a terrible place to try and recover from a drug addiction. There are hardly any worthwhile facilities or programs. Courtney and her family have done their research (which is exhausting and heartbreaking) to find a program that's both long term and suitable for her.

Most treatment centers are 30 days or less- she's going to attend a 90 day program in hopes to return to her life a changed and drug-free version of herself. In my humble opinion, this is an exceptionally brave and intelligent approach to getting help.

For those of you reading this who haven't had the opportunity to meet this incredible gal, let me tell you a bit about her. I met Courtney when we were just 9 years old, living in Gustavus, Alaska. She immediately (as in moments) changed my life. I'd never had a best friend, and I knew the moment I met her it was because I hadn't met my soul mate until then.
We grew up playing in the muddy river banks, racing our four-wheelers around the dirt roads, and as the years went on, getting ourselves into buckets of trouble.

Courtney and her family moved back to Juneau where she went on to attend high school. This is when things took a twisted turn for her. Juneau is both beautiful and a very troubling place for many youths and adults. The harsh hands of drug addiction found their way around Courtney and have held on for the past decade. I've seen her through her ups and her downs, and it's devastating to know she's at her worst.

I've lost friends to drug addiction battles in the past. I've seen them change, I've seen them suffer, and I've seen them pass away. I refuse to let this happen to one of the greatest people I've ever met, and I'm hoping everyone who reads this can help me.

I hope that when you read this you can hear Courtney's giggle, and think about what it felt like the last time she made you smile. Think of this and try to imagine how cold a world without her would be. Every single dollar helps, as cliche as that may sound.

This fundraiser is a time sensitive matter. The sooner she can get help, the sooner she can move on with her life as a healthy, happy, and drug-free woman.

Courtney and her family need to raise $30,000 for this treatment. She has no health insurance and is paying out of pocket for everything. I realize $30,000 is an astronomical amount of money to ask for you all to come up with, so I've started with half of that as to not come off so daunting.

This money will go towards the cost of travel to get her to the facility, the 90 day treatment itself, and whatever else her needs may be in this hard time.

I'm asking from the bottom of my normally cold, greedy heart: please, please help this lady. She is nothing short of incredible and I wouldn't be asking if I didn't truly believe she is capable of healing and kicking this addiction's butt.
