Jameel's Courageous and Unexpected Journey
As many know, life can throw some unexpected hurdles, at the most inopportune times. But when something hits you so unexpectedly, surprisingly, or suddenly, it can throw you for a loop.
This is the situation that my dear husband, Jameel Abdul-Rasheed, is in right now, and thus the purpose of this gofundme plea. Many of you know Jameel as a kind, sincere, and dedicated man to his faith, family, and community, many of whom he has been blessed to help. Once very robust and active, especially in prison dawah (ministry) work, until he was beset with some serious health complications.
Though we are fortunate to have health insurance, because he has been in and out of hospital and physical rehabilitation centers (hospitalizations, amputation, treatments, etc). so much, he has exceeded the allowable number of care days that Medicare and private insurance will pay. Recently he had to have hip replacement surgery from a fall at a rehab facility, which will mean six to eight more weeks, at least, of rehabilitative and skilled nursing care.
Now we must pay for this care out of pocket at a cost that will put a heavy burden on our finances. As you may know, health care costs are very expensive, even with private or so-called 'government' insurances such as Medicare.
His coverage can begin again, but only after two months of wellness days at home . With so many regulations and provisions in health care today, few people probably are aware of this.
In short, this plea is for any assistance in helping us reach a goal of $10,000 to cover Jameel's immediate health care needs. We have been and are using our own monies, of course, to help defray the costs of his rehabilitative and nursing care, but as you can imagine, continuing to take funds from your day to day living expenses and savings, can eventually diminish any funds you may have accrued.
At the suggestion of a friend, I was advised to try this route as there may be people who know Jameel, are aware of his good works, and may be willing to help.
If anyone would like to give a donation in any amount towards this goal, or in some other way, such as your dua's (prayers), all would be most appreciated.
As our Prophet reminded us, take five before five (take advantage of five blessings before you are deprived): your youth before old age, your health before sickness, your wealth before poverty, your free time before your work, and your life before death.
