Reggie Recovery Fund

Last year on April 12, 2017, beautiful wife Gervel Sampson received that phone call every spouse dreads. It is a phone call that no one can every really prepare themselves.  It was a call that dramatically changed Gervel and her children’s life forever. Her incredible loving and giving husband, Dr.  Reginald Sampson (Reggie) suffered a massive stroke including hemorrhaging in the brain. He was paralyzed on the entire left side and loss the ability to speak.  He also suffered Congestive Heart Failure, Pneumonia along with other subsequent complications.

This catastrophic event left Gervel, Amani and Reggie Jr. emotionally devastated and grief stricken. There were so many unanswered questions that went through their minds. “What is going to happen to my husband that I love and adore?” “What is going to happen to my daddy?” They came together as a family to use all resources to help #ReggieRecover. Reggie spent the last 10 months in hospital care fighting for his life with his beautiful wife and children along by his side never missing one step. No one could ever imagine Reggie would remain in the hospital for 321 days!

Family is everything to the Sampson Family. Reggie, the patriarch has been the provider, the loving husband and father and an extraordinary physician.  To witness Gervel and his children respond with so much enduring love and strength to be an advocate for his care brings tears of hope.  Amani  came home to assist with  her daddy's medical practice  and Reggie Jr. dropped out of college to take care of his mother and his daddy.

Reggie was discharged on February 27, 2018 from the hospital and is at home now but his recovery continues. Although he is happy to be home with his family, his journey to recovery will be long, arduous and expensive. Reggie’s fighting spirit is inspirational.  Through the amazing grace of his loving wife and children, he is determined to get better.

The medical expenditures far exceeded insurance reimbursements not to mention insurance denial of payments (not covered).  Medical (Medicare) insurance will only provide limited resources and reimbursements. It is up to his wife, Gervel and his children to take care of him 24/7. He will need home healthcare, extensive physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, medication, medical supplies, follow up physician visits and medical transport.

The Sampson family is blessed with so many incredible AMAZING friends, family, patients and acquaintances that are looking for a way to help Reggie, Gervel, Amani, and Reggie Jr. with his long-term continuum care. Go Fund Me is now available for all of us (it takes a village) to pull additional resources to help Reggie with his care and for his loving family. We all want Reggie to get better soon!!!!! A man that has touched and given  much to so many people, patients and the medical community deserves a fighting chance.  All donations and support are sincerely appreciated with unconditional love.

Thank you
