What is Regenesis Centre for Recovery?
Regenesis Centre for Recovery (RCR) is a start-up not-for-profit social service agency in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Our vision is to create a new long-term residential addictions recovery facility available to anyone identifying as a woman or as gender non-conforming. This vision stems from the highly concerning methamphetamine and opioid crisis that is currently affecting our city.
RCR will be among Winnipeg's few addictions facilities offering long-term transitional housing and care specifically for marginalized groups. Many other facilities offer primary treatment which typically consists of thirty days of housing and counselling. RCR will offer a six to twelve month recovery program following a client’s completion of primary care from other facilities. Additionally, RCR will provide our graduates with extensive aftercare support focused on stable reintegration into the greater community. To fully assist clients who come through our doors, RCR staff will be comprised of two experienced addictions counsellors and an Occupational Therapist. The RCR team will provide various forms of client support during their stay, as well as a lifelong outreach program for graduates, free of charge.
At RCR, we plan to serve our clients with different bodies, experiences, and beliefs. Anyone who identifies as a woman or as gender non-conforming will be welcome in our home. We will provide safe and sober housing, a supportive community, and culturally appropriate care for the people who enter our doors. Inspired by the Greek word, regenesis, meaning renewal or rebirth, we plan to stay true to our name and give everyone who comes to RCR the fresh start that they deserve.
Who are we?
We are three politically-minded, caring women with hearts for justice and a soft spot for other women in need. With cumulatively over 20 years experience in mental health and addictions care, we have the expertise, passion, and motivation to make our dream a reality. We noticed a significant gap in treatment for those living with addictions, particularly for women. Feeling frustrated with the lack of long-term transitional recovery facilities in our city, we put our heads and hearts together, and the idea for RCR was born.
