Regenerate Jeannine’s Damaged Liver

Donation protected

Jeannine has struggled with a chronic, progressive autoimmune disease in which her body attacks her liver-autoimmune hepatitis.
This disease has wreaked havoc on her health since being diagnosed at the age of 19.
Along with autoimmune hepatitis Jeannine also suffers from hypothyroidism and another autoimmune disease called Sjogren’s Syndrome A.
Throughout the past 22 years Jeannine has worked hard to fight this disease but over the years flare-ups of the disease(s) has caused much damage to her liver.
In the Spring of last year Jeannine had another very bad flare-up, maybe the worst one yet, causing even more damage and problems.
She was immediately sent to see her liver specialist in Saskatoon where they preformed a Fibroscan Test to determine the extent of liver damage. By comparing this result to her previous Fibroscan and Liver Biopsy it was concluded that on a scale of 1-4, 4 being the worst-liver cirrhosis, Jeannine is at 2.5-3/4, meaning that 2/3-3/4 of Jeannine’s liver is non-functioning scar tissue and she has only 1/4-1/3 of her liver that is actually functioning for her.
The liver has become too damaged to keep up with its daily tasks causing extreme exhaustion, painful aching joints, at times severe edema where her eyes swell shut, hypoalbuminemia, and a completely unbalanced system.
As a result of this news we as a family would like Jeannine to undergo treatment to work on healing her body and restoring her health as best we can.
Jeannine has a 3 year old daughter whom she loves beyond measure and hopes to share many, many more years with.
The treatment recommendations are:
1) Liver Stem Cell Transplant
2) Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber
3) Chelation/Intravenous Vitamin Therapy
and other possible treatments depending on her formal consult by the clinic.
Estimated costs for 1 round of treatment is $20,000. The cost of travel, meals, and accommodations for this 3 week course of treatment is estimated to be around $7000.
It is likely that Jeannine will need to go for a second round of treatment within 6 months to a year and possibly yearly tuneups.
We are doing these treatments in hopes of preventing Jeannine from ever needing a liver transplant and to rejuvenate her health and quality of living as best we can.
Any help that you can provide is so greatly appreciated and words alone cannot thank you enough for your support.
