HELP BUILD A COMMUNITY RECYCLING CENTER
OUR MISSION is to create a community based recycling center to take used plastic bags and turn them into fabric.
We are up against a seemingly impossible task when it comes to solutions for what to do with our plastic bags. But what if it is possible to recycle every single plastic bag?
We believe there is an entirely new way to interact with plastic. For the past four years we have been bootstrapping our way along, as we have experimented turning used plastic bags into fabrics. Over this course of time we have had many breakthroughs in our process and outcomes.
Our small team has dedicated countless hours to furthering the mission. And as we’ve developed REFUSION our community has fully rallied around this work. All of the helping hands who have contributed to date makes us believe that our mission is possible!
The goal of this fundraiser is to build out a community recycling center and start recycling at MAXIMUM CAPACITY! We will hire a small dedicated team to work our current machines full time. $10,000 will provide the funds to hire a team of 3 full-time employees for one month, and our goal is to have 3 months of payroll raised for our team. With this team in place we will be able to turn a truckload of plastic bags into REFUSION fabric each day. Beyond that we have the following budget:$7000 - Purchasing a larger machine that will increase output and efficiency
$1000 - Safety equipment
$1500 - Production line furnishings and fixtures
$4500 - Material testing
$750 - Gifts to donors (YOU!)
Christine and I want to do this work full time with our full attention. I currently run Rais Case, (a brand of consciously made bags & accessories) and co-manage Rising Co., (a community hub and co-op shop in Oceanside, CA.) If we could be supported beyond the $45,000 set for this fundraiser, it could allow us to dedicate our time fully to REFUSION.
