<div><a href="https://www.facebook.com/transrefugeeinitiative/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Refugee Trans Initiative</a> (RTI) is a refugee led organization working since 2018. They are focussed on advocacy for and protection and empowerment of the ITGNC (intersex, trans and gender nonconforming) refugee community in Kenya. They support people from Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda ,Somalia , South Sudan and the other surrounding countries - all of them escaping persecution due to their identity and sexual orientation.

<div>RTI offer  safe housing, food supply, access to HRT, advocacy, medical assistance, emergency response and legal assistance among other services.

<div><strong>The current situation</strong>
</div>
<div>For years East Africa has seen increased anti-homosexuality laws and anti-gender movements. Transphobic behaviour is increasing and this has meant that those in Kenya that have escaped their motherlands have had to endure countless challenges:

</li>
<li>Trauma and hopelessness
</li>
<li>Inadequate  HIV/AIDS care services - made worse by USAID being taken away
</li>
<li>Lack of food  
</li>
<li>Misinformation and transphobic propaganda
</li>
<li>Lack of medical access
</li>
</ul>

<div><strong>How you can help</strong>
</div>
<div>£1500 is enough to cover 3 months of rent and utility bills for RTI's shelter for Queer refugees
</div>
<div>£800 could pay for two workshop on personal security - educating RTI's beneficiaries on their rights and how to stay safe
</div>
<div><span style="font-family:inherit;font-size:1rem;color:inherit;">£750 would be used for the medical assistance fund</span>
</div>
<div>£500 could pay for the transportation costs for RTI's beneficiaries to travel to HIV-related appointments and to access HIV-medication.
</div>
<div><span style="font-family:inherit;font-size:1rem;color:inherit;">£400 would pay for the resources needed for online advocacy activities (for example: wifi, venues, video editing)</span>

<div>£250 is enough to pay for a month of psychosocial support 
</div>
<div>£150 could pay for a month's groceries for RTI beneficiaries living outside of the RTI shelter
</div>

<div>And £5, £10, £20, £50, £100 could all go towards the costs of any of these things.

<div><em>Note: Refugee Trans Awareness' work is ongoing and even after the fundraising goal, they'll need to raise funds to continue it.</em>
