Refugee Family Fundraiser

A group of volunteers, working in partnership with a CT-based nonprofit, has supported the resettlement of an Afghan refugee family to Stamford. The father worked for the Americans, escaped kidnapping by the Taliban and serious IED injuries, and fled with his family to Pakistan, where they spent two uncertain years. This beautiful family of 6 is now working to build healthy lives for themselves, and contribute to our community. Both parents work more than full time, and the children are dedicating themselves to school ... and making up for major gaps in their education.

But they are still not making ends meet. Around the father's 50th birthday this week, we are organizing a very dedicated fundraiser (running through Oct. 4 only) to provide them with some ShopRite gift cards to help ease the burden of groceries, and give the family a small emergency reserve, which they have not had since their arrival.

We are lucky to have this family in our community, and we thank you in advance for a contribution of any size. Thank you for considering.
