Restore Hope for Keryce & Family After a Devastating Fire
At 10:50 pm, on the evening of Tuesday, October 28th, 2024, our beloved sister and friend, Keryce Davis, was doing her nightly routine, giving her 3-year-old daughter, Khari, a bath and prepping her 88-year-old grandmother, Shirley, for whom she cares, for bed. While disposing of waste in the kitchen area, she noticed smoke/flames coming from her terrace. She immediately snapped into action and retrieved a fire extinguisher to extinguish the blaze, but it only became worse. She called for her cousin to take Khari out of the bath, grabbed Granny, and with the clothes on their backs, they ran out into the hall to escape and alert the neighbors by banging on their doors. The fire soon engulfed the building and ultimately displaced multiple families. They have lost everything.
As a caregiver and mother, Keryce rarely complains or burdens anyone by asking for help. She is a selfless giver, whose infectious energy gives life to us all. As the holidays approach, she needs us now, more than ever. The inseparable trio are currently living in a local hotel, without the necessary medical equipment to care for her aging grandmother, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. To make matters worse, the apartment complex refuses to rent to Shirley even though she has lived there for 22 years. They are hoping to raise enough money to cover the expenses related to finding a new place suitable for the needs of Grandma Shirley, her underlying medical conditions, and peace of mind this holiday season.
Keryce’s unwavering faith is helping her push through this devastating time, and she is grateful for all the sincere thoughts and wishes she’s received. Any contribution, big or small, will be accepted with their heartfelt appreciation. Thank you.
