Reese Lymphoma Treatment

Few weeks back we noticed Reese was not feeling good and had a rather large lump around/ near his jaw. He wasn't eating his normal food portions so we knew something was not right with our baby. First vet visit we were told that he had several lymph nodes that were swollen, his blood work was normal, but he had elevated globulins that indicate the cause could be cancer. He was referred to a specialist. Once he saw the oncologist it was confirmed he has Multicentric Lymphoma. He has several nodes that are swollen, the cancer has not traveled to organs or his brain, however he has lost a great deal of weight. Based on statistics he has a good chance if we are able to start chemotherapy for our baby in the next two weeks. The doctor gave us 3 options. One option is the use of 4 different medications. The second is only one medication. the third don't treat his cancer and give him medication to make him comfortable for a few months. We just don't have the heart not to do everything possible so that we can get him this treatment done. Wait it gets trickier Reese has a heart murmur so the second option given to us might not even be an option. It depends on if his heart is strong enough to endure the second option of medication. Reese has been with our family for about 7 years now. We are not ready to see him go. Our family has been hit very hard this year with family loss due to covid and non related covid deaths. Reese is closest to my husband and to my father. Most of you close to me know my father is old with many medical conditions including Demetia/Alzheimer's. Reese is who sits with my father all day and keeps him company. He is my father's pass time. He is the one thing my dad remembers on his off days when he has no idea where he is. Reese is my husband bestfriend and partner in crime and emotional aid. He really is the most obedient and happy dog we have ever had and we want to hold on to hit for more time.
