Power to The Ranch

Hello there!
My name is Claire Rivero and I am the President and Project Director of the Rancho Feliz Tenerife Association  https://ranchofeliztenerife.com/
a registered non-profit association located in Tenerife, Canary islands.  

After leaving my international corporate career,  I began the Rancho Feliz Tenerife Association in 2019 as a personally funded non profit organisation, built from  my years of experience in people, travel & event management fused with my deep love and respect for the natural environments of this island. 

Rancho Feliz Tenerife is a labour of love, dedicated to bringing the local island and international community together, and offers an alternative vision of Tenerife,  a vision that is non-dependent on commercialized mass tourism. 


To date, we have hosted countless workshops, created communal collaboration events , provided and networked numerous opportunities for local business owners, and grown a protected environment for local creatives: artists, musicians, designers, healers,  photographers and filmmakers to connect and flourish. 


We have also opened up the ranch for multiple visitors to disconnect and spend unforgettable times with loved ones in an exclusively peaceful, private and alternative environment during challenging times.  A  "perfectly imperfect" unique location for small groups and teams to meet, disconnect .  Social distancing requirements are easily met here as the ranch comprises of a wealth of open air spaces . Mentally distancing from your daily life is provided free of charge here.

Objective of the campaign

The primary objective is to raise funds and/or investment of resources for solar powered or wind powered energy, so that operating costs allow the Ranch to reopen and operate. The Ranch is off-grid, and the main power supply is a huge, old,  diesel run generator. The generator has been difficult and costly to run and the goal is to replace it with environmentally friendly power sources. Following recent costly operational problems with the main generator and a quote of €1500 to repair, we continued to operate with a small  mobile generator which was unbelievably and unfortunately stolen from the ranch in November 2020. 
So circumstances mean that we are currently and literally without energy ( Hence the campaign name Power to the Ranch! )

It is time to now really reach towards the long term goal to replace the power source  for Rancho Feliz Tenerife and we need  your support to continue to provide accessibility for visitors to enjoy  and benefit from this unique environment.

Assistance could be provided in the form of financial support ( donations), professional resources  in relation to sustainable energy , permaculture or physical labour. Having consistent and sustainable energy would in turn aid the growth of the Rancho Feliz Tenerife association, which is dedicated to giving back to the local community.

We support and develop social, cultural, artistic, and environmental projects via our local and online community, and provide an alternative environment for those wanting to escape into nature. Having a low operational cost and environmentally friendly power source at the ranch is critical to continue to provide support to our projects. As a registered non profit organisation we connect with other synergetic non profit organizations locally and internationally to create a thriving community to enhance the island ́s authentic culture. Association members have access to ranch location visits as part of their support of ranch initiatives. A community with shared ideals and interests can effect change and develop a harmonious network to grow opportunities, and we need this now more than ever!


Due to the current financial situation, along with the more extreme COVID restrictions we have here at the moment, I will be closing the doors to the Ranch between the dates of December 25th  2020 until First of March 2021 .

This is to focus our efforts on this campaign, repair and maintenance work to the Ranch and providing support to our ongoing  projects off-site. 

HOW YOU CAN HELP SUPPORT THIS CAMPAIGN

From initial concept to present date, all Rancho Feliz Tenerife projects thus far have been privately funded by myself  and with the grateful assistance of my wonderful circle of friends.  Personally, after two years, I can  no longer afford to financially support the operational costs myself precisely when I need to take  the Ranch and its initiatives to the next level and continue to keep this special place operative.

For the last 2 years I  have been using gasoline and diesel based motors to provide electricity at Ranch:

Current Status

Primary Large Motor, inoperable as of October 2020 - projected cost of repair: 1500 -2000 Euros
Our smaller independent motor was stolen in November, so we effectively now have no power source even to operate necessary cleaning and maintenance unless we rent motors by the day, which is financially non viable.

We are looking for more sustainable options for Rancho Feliz Tenerife: 

Long term and Funding goal

Solar paneling to provide extremely low cost operational functionality
or combination of alternative environmentally friendly power sources ( e.g Small scale wind turbines)

Short term immediate need
Purchase or borrow 1 or 2  new or used portable generators to maintain the ranch during the campaign and to be able to accept some  reservations and events while solar panels are being installed.

We actively invite collaborators for alternative energy to get involved as sponsors to showcase and promote their services
