<div>I’m Sam, proud uncle of my 9-month-old nephew, Reed. He’s the happiest little guy you could ever meet, and right now he’s facing something no baby should ever have to endure.

<div>This summer, what seemed like a bit of swelling turned out to be a rare and malignant tumor. In August, Reed bravely underwent surgery to remove it. Pathology confirmed it as a sarcoma with a genetic fusion so rare that there are almost no other cases like his anywhere in the world.

<div>The good news: surgeons removed the tumor, and so far, scans have not shown spread. The hard news: this type of cancer is sneaky. Microscopic cells may still linger, and because Reed’s case is so unique, there is no clear treatment roadmap. His doctors at Mass General and Dana-Farber are consulting with experts worldwide to determine the best evidence-based care plan for Reed.

<div>To make things even more challenging, this happened in the middle of a cross-country move for their family. Reed’s dad travels back and forth to Washington, D.C., to secure their medical insurance, while his mom, a pediatric ICU nurse, does not know when she can return to work. Reed is fragile, the future uncertain, and the financial pressures of travel, bills, and lost income grow heavier daily. With the current government shutdown temporarily affecting Kyle’s ability to receive regular pay, the urgent need for help is increasing.

<div>As someone who lives across the country from Reed and his family, I’ve personally struggled with how I can support my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew in this horrible situation. What warms my heart is that so many people have asked, “What can we do to help?” The truth is, you can make a real difference right now. By lightening the practical burdens, such as travel costs, medical expenses, and time away from work, you give Reed’s parents the gift of being fully present with their son during the fight of his life. <strong>All funds will go directly to Reed’s parents, Gracie and Kyle, to help cover medical and living expenses while they support him.</strong>
