Hurricane Michael effectively destroyed my congregation's church building, Redemption Lutheran Church, 1700 E. 11th Street, Panama City, Florida, on October 10, 2018. The building was uninsured as we had to choose between insuring it or having a Pastor. We're a very small congregation. We do not want to cease as a congregation, and want to remain in our neighborhood. Our neighbors have said they want us to stay! So, we need a new building, more hurricane-resistant, WITHOUT a FLAT ROOF! The building needs to have sanctuary and chancel, of course, a couple of classrooms for Sunday school and catechesis, a sacristy with piscina, office/vestry for our Pastor, kitchen, fellowship room, and two restrooms. Heat and A/C, of course. A couple of stained glass windows would be nice, too. We estimate that this could cost up to $300,000.00. While our synod has provided a temporary portable chapel for our use, the city has said it can only remain on our property for 11 months, so we would like to have funding by December 31, 2019.
