<div>Linda is ernstig ziek. De behandelingen in Nederland zijn uitgeput of bieden nauwelijks nog kansen. In het buitenland is er wél een behandeling die perspectief kan geven, maar die wordt hier niet vergoed. De kosten zijn enorm: €500.000. Een bedrag dat wij als familie nooit alleen kunnen dragen.

<div>We zijn gestart met een streefbedrag van €150.000 toen ik de actie opzette. Inmiddels is er meer duidelijkheid over de ernst van de aandoeningen, waardoor het doelbedrag is verhoogd naar €500.000. Over een week verwachten we meer inzicht in de daadwerkelijke kosten. <div>Mijn naam is Linda. Mijn leven is nooit simpel geweest. Al van jongs af aan kamp ik met onverklaarbare en ingewikkelde klachten. Jarenlang ben ik niet gehoord, steeds van het kastje naar de muur gestuurd. Terwijl mijn gezondheid verslechterde, werd ik afgedaan als “lastig geval” – of nog erger: genegeerd.

<div>Door medische fouten en schandalen ben ik uiteindelijk nog zieker geworden. Het dieptepunt? Een jaar lang heb ik niks kunnen eten en ben ik 90 kilo afgevallen, zonder behandeling, afgescheept met het advies om maar wat gemberthee te drinken.

<div>En nu blijkt dat ik inderdaad een zeer zeldzame en ernstige ziekten heb. Een ziekte waar nog amper kennis over is. Naast de dagelijkse, ondraaglijke pijn leef ik in een soort medisch limbo: een niemandsland waar mijn klachten niet begrepen worden, en waar de kennis of zelfs de bereidheid ontbreekt om me écht te helpen.”

<div>Toch geef ik niet op. Ondanks alles blijf ik vechten, blijf ik lachen, en zoek ik steeds manieren om door te gaan. Ik heb nog zoveel om voor te leven. Muziek is mijn uitlaatklep: ik zing graag, en wie mij kent weet hoeveel kracht en gevoel ik daarin leg.

<div>Ik ben geen patiëntennummer. Ik ben een zus, een vriendin, een dochter, een zangeres. En bovenal: een mens die wil blijven leven.

</div>
<div>My name is Linda. My life has never been easy. Ever since I was young, I have struggled with inexplicable and complicated complaints. I haven't been heard for years, kept being sent from pillar to post. As my health deteriorated, I was dismissed as a “nuisance” – or worse, ignored.

Medical errors and scandals ultimately made me even sicker. The lowest point? I couldn't eat anything for a year and lost 90 kilos without treatment, but I was told to drink some ginger tea.

And now it turns out I do indeed have a very rare and serious illness. A disease about which almost no one knows anything. Besides the daily, unbearable pain, I live in a kind of medical limbo: a no-man's-land where my symptoms are misunderstood, and where the knowledge or even the willingness to truly help me is lacking.




Yet I don't give up. Despite everything, I keep fighting, I keep laughing, and I keep looking for ways to keep going. I still have so much to live for. Music is my outlet: I love to sing, and anyone who knows me knows how much strength and emotion I put into it.

I am not a “patient number”. I am a sister, a friend, a daughter, a singer. 
And most of all: a person who wants to keep on living. 
With the right treatment abroad I still have a chance. And I want to seize this possibility, but I cannot do it alone.
