Kim Troy Williams was an uber driver and did this to support his family. On the morning of March 21st he picked up two individuals for a ride, sometime during that ride they shot him in the abdomen twice. He got out of his car and made it to a tire shop for help. The men made off with his car, wallet and cell phone and left him fighting for his life. He was taken to SAMC where he is in critical but stable condition now.
He has already had 3 surgeries and has at least 3 more needed. His small intestine, liver and other organs were severely damaged. He has an 8 year old daughter and wife he was supporting. He will now no longer be able to work for an undetermined amount of time and the people who did this have not been apprehended. Kim is the most gentle soul you could imagine and has never uttered a bad word about one person. This has left the family distraught, angry and filled with questions. Anything you can give to help would be greatly appreciated.

His brother Adam and I (Kim’s sister in law) have set this up in hopes of relieving some of the burdens the family is feeling in order to allow them time to process and be there with him in this terribly tragic time.

Hello again everyone!
It’s been a few days and this update will be relatively short but filled with great news! Kim was moved out of the ICU!!! He now has a private room in the surgical unit of the hospital and is progressing really well! It’s a long process but health has stayed the same and he is getting stronger everyday. We are hopeful that he can go home sooner rather than later :). A huge thanks again for your continued support and thoughts and prayers are still always appreciated!

Hello all! We got a great update from Melissa, Kim’s wife, that we wanted to share! His diet is being switched to clear liquids of his choice, he had grape juice and a popsicle today. Feeding tube is still intact for bile transfer. One of the tubes draining his liver has been removed but the other is still intact with minimal output. His white blood cell count is slowly dropping, which is great because that means he is less likely to have severe infection. He will have pressure wound therapy every three days, which is incredibly painful but pain is still being managed through medication. He is receiving anti-fungal meds to address any remaining bullet fragments and also on medication to keep blood clots away, although there are none reported at the time, it’s more precautionary. He will stay in ICU a few more days because his white blood cell count is still higher than they are comfortable with. Other than that he is more alert and fighting hard to heal. Melissa says he is fighting hard with great determination to overcome any and all obstacle in his recovery process. He is keeping a strong mind and good outlook. Continued prayers and thoughts are so appreciated for a great and speedy recovery!!

Hello again family and friends,
It’s been a few days since we updated and a couple of people have asked so here it is :). He’s had a couple of really good days! He is awake more now and they removed catheter, chest tube and breathing tube (I think I mentioned that in the last update). They have him sitting and walking a little although it does tire him out they say it will help keep infection minimal. He has a low grade fever but no serious infection at this point. He said he was bored the other day so we feel like that’s a really good sign!! He is still at a whisper level but that will jus take time. He is still in the ICU because of the issues with his liver but the last few days have been really positive all things considered. The support from everyone has been incredible, we are often at a loss for words by the outpouring of kindness from friends, family and complete strangers. He still has a long road but it was a relief to finally here something positive. Keep thinking and praying for Kim as he is in a marathon recovery process. Thanks again for all the love and support!

Hello again,
We were at the hospital late so we were not able to update yesterday but we want to give you a quick update on Kim. So they are rolling back on sedatives because his body needs to be a little more active in order to heal quicker and try to remove the fluid on his lungs. They made him sit up (something he wasn’t too happy about) and he keeps trying to trick people into getting him water, so his sense of humor is still there. :) He does have a low grade fever which could be an indication of an infection. The doctors fully expect him to get an infection just from being open so long and the extent of his injuries it’s just a matter of his body being strong enough to fight it off. We were tasked with keeping him awake, which is harder than you might think! Overall, yesterday was a pretty good day for him, it’s just a waiting game now. We expect him to have good days and bad days. He’s whispering because he is not healed from the breathing tube and at times he talks non sense because of the heavy pain meds but there are times when you can see the Kim we know and love shine through all the shock and processing. This is still a long road but it’s been the first good day he’s had so we were grateful that there was no really bad news yesterday. He is still in the ICU and will remain there for at least another two weeks before being considered to move because of his liver. The doctors are constantly monitoring and do an amazing job of keeping us up to date! Thank you all again for your generosity and kindness, this is still a marathon, not a sprint so any help is still more than welcomed, appreciated and needed. Thanks a million times over for all the support!
