Jaxon’s Journey!

Story

Last Tuesday afternoon, my best friends three-year-old son and her fiancé‘s mother were seriously injured in a horrific car accident. Jaxon’s Grandma, Nelly, was driving to her place to let the dog out. On the way there she sustained a rupture of an undiagnosed aortic aneurysm while driving which caused her to go off the road into some trees.          Both Jaxon and Nelly were airlifted to Duluth. She had surgery to repair her heart there.  She is recovering and doing well at this time. Jaxon was the most severely injured, sustaining a traumatic brain injury and fractured pelvis.  He was airlifted from the scene to Duluth, where they stabilized him enough to airlift him to a hospital in Minneapolis.  Jaxon remained stable for a few days and it seemed  like things were looking up. On Friday he started having seizures after they started to ween him off the medications that were keeping him sedated. This can happen but he continued to have seizures.  They did a CT of his head on Saturday afternoon and found that his brain was starting to swell.  Because of this, he needed emergency surgery to remove a piece of his skull to accommodate the swelling.  In the near future he will need another surgery to replace the piece after the swelling subsides. Jaxon remains in critical condition, sedated and intubated. It has been a roller coaster for Zuri and Joe, who have remained by his side.          As you can imagine, an emergency like this incurs many expenses.  It isn’t clear yet how much of the hospital stay will be covered.  Zuri and Joe, who live 3.5 hours away, in Eveleth, will stay in Minneapolis by Jaxon’s side as he fights to recover.  This means they will not be working.  Jaxon will need the presence and support of his parents, and it is important for them to focus on him rather then worrying about their finances.  Between the medical bills, transportation, and cost of staying in Minneapolis, it’s a lot.  I hope that we can help them with some of these costs.           We all know that Jaxon is a fighter!  He was born at 29 weeks and weighed only 3 pounds.  Since then he has grown into a happy and healthy 3 year old boy who is off the charts in his height and weight.  Let’s support Zuri and Joe in their journey to save Jaxon.     Funds raised will be turned over to family to help with immediate medical bills and living costs while they are far from home. If any funds are left over they will go towards Jaxon’s extended recovery when he’s finally released from the hospital.     Whether you contribute financially or not, please keep Jaxon, Zuri and Joe in your thoughts and prayers at this time.  Please donate, share this on social media, and email this to your friends and family.
