Recovery fund for Chris Winslow

My brother Chris suffered a severe traumatic brain injury back in May. He was stabilized in Keene and was sent to Lebanon where he underwent a lengthy surgery stop bleeding on his brain and to save his life. He was placed on a ventilator and was induced into a coma for weeks to decrease the pressures in his brain. He has gone through numerous surgeries and after about a month he was extubated and trached to be woken up. He shocked us all when he was able to speak when they capped his trach. He has made so many leaps forward in his recovery. He is truly a fighter and never gives up.

He has since got his g tube and trach out and is going through rehab to get back to living a normal life. He was able to get out of the hospital and finish recovery at home with his four children by his side. He is truly a walking miracle and our family is grateful every day that he is still in our lives.

His injuries were significant and mimic that of a stroke. He has partial paralysis on one side of his body. Undergoing intensive rehab everyday has strengthened him to be able to walk with some assistive devices. He is working so hard to get back to his normal life of being a wonderful father and being able to enjoy his life with his children. He loves to fish and be outdoors and work on his cars and is working so hard to get back to what he loves.

He would benefit from some assistive devices to help him move his arm and walk. Unfortunately, insurance doesn’t cover this equipment. I am trying to help raise money for him to live a fulfilling and happy life. He would benefit from these devices to be more independent and get his strength back. There is a device called Myopro orthosis that would help him be able to move his left arm and help him control his movements. He would also benefit from a Bioness device for his leg to help stimulate the appropriate nerves and muscles in his legs to help him walk. He is still in early recovering so walking long distances is very tiring. He would benefit from a track chair to get around and be outdoors with his kids and enjoy spending time with them like usual.

If you know my brother Chris, you know how truly big his heart is. He is one of the most selfless people I have ever met, and he is always willing to help people out and asks nothing in return. He is always working on people’s cars and helping his neighbors when they need it. He has always been there for me when I need him, always willing to help me out with my schoolwork or sculpture I was making. Whenever anybody would call him for help, he would always be there to lend a helping hand. I am asking everyone to consider donating and helping Chris’s recovery because he needs your help now. Thanks so much!
