Disaster Recovery for Anikituhwaki

Donation protected
The Anikituhwaki have sustained a great hardship due to a disaster of extreme damage from shear winds and hard rain at a Kentucky Powwow on August 31st. Severe damage was inflicted to the vendor tent, merchandise, support equipment, packing equipment, and one of our elders was severely injured requiring hospitalization and surgery. Merchandise items were ruined or scattered or stolen. The powwow circuit is in support of our people, for spreading the word of our ancient teachings, for healing those who need help. These powwows are central to how most of our people came to be together in our group of the Anikituhwaki. Our priests and elders spend much time, money, and effort traveling to, setting up, purchasing merchandise and working the vendor tent hoping to benefit others in the community, reach those who should be taught, and bring some support for their travels and expenses back to them. This incident along with the heat and rains of this spring and summer have decimated their ability to continue without suffering great personal losses. We, the Anikituhwaki, are taught to support our priests and elders and the sacrifices they make each day. We have this fund to garner support for the priests and elders who suffered great economical damage, and physical, spiritual, and emotional turmoil in this time of stress. In addition, this fund will allow the continued efforts of reaching new people, helping those along the way and teaching the ancient beliefs of the Anikituhwaki.

Please view the updates below for additional photos of damage.  The photo above is the tent on top of the cargo trailer.  The trailer also suffered some damages.  Not all items damaged were photographed.
