This is the story of Joshua White
On November 14th, 2019, Joshua’s life changed and the unthinkable happened to him. He was sleeping when the house caught on fire. He was falling in and out of consciousness from the carbon monoxide, which made him get trapped in the fire where he was getting burnt alive. He laid in the middle of the fire until he got pulled out of it. Everything was burned off of him; all of his clothes and Some parts of his body were burned down to the muscle or bone. He was in an induced coma for over 2 1/2 months with carbon monoxide poisoning, 3rd degree burns over 60% of his body and 2nd degree on the rest. The only thing not touched was below the knees.
Unfortunately Joshua lost both of his ears and a finger and is still at risk of losing parts of a few more fingers. Joshua has already had over 10 skin graft surgeries, numerous other medical procedures, and has had 5 infections at one time. What he has and still has to encounter most people would not have survived through. It is through his strength, will power and God’s grace that he is here with us today. Now he is in rehab; awake, talking, smiling, eating, walking and trying to gain strength and movement back. At this time, he cannot use his hands.
This fundraiser is to help Joshua as he transitions from rehab back into reality. Remember, he is coming out with nothing, not even the clothes that were on him the night. When he is released he will be starting completely over with his new life. He will have nothing at all from a toothbrush to clothes to not being able to work, not to mention a place to live. He will have ongoing therapy as the skin tightens up very easily giving him limited movement.
