Recoup lost donation for Tompkins Family
This is my oldest and best friend Tyrone Tompkins and his beautiful family.
He’s a missionary that for lots of years he’s done a lot of local missions working with kids in schools helping build up communities that are struggling. The work he and his wife are doing has changed the lives of young people all over our nation.
He’s since traveled across the world for his missionary work and is now the national director For high school ministry in one of the largest Christian missionary organizations in the world.
People in missions are required to raise their support. Their salary comes from whatever they’re able to raise, donations from individuals and businesses.
This weekend he was out with his family at one of the protest in Oklahoma City, then another protest in Houston, highlighting the togetherness, love and respect the white and black people were giving each other and how that was so much different than the rioting in the looting and stuff that we see on the news.
One of his biggest supporters, a very wealthy individual that provides a little over half of their living expenses expressed to my brother that he felt this organization is going the wrong direction. Focusing on social issues that arent important. And one problem is that YOUR PEOPLE CAN’T JUST BE SATISFIED WITH WHAT YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN! Then he withdrew his support. 30,000 per year.
My brother will not be getting a paycheck this month.
No one was violent. No one trying to hurt my brother or his family physically. And this man has the right to give or withdraw his support to anyone at any time.
But when someone with a lot of power makes the decision to make sure that someone with less power, understands “his place” then we have a problem. My brother and his family will survive this. His work is too important for one person to tear down. But it’s a shame that he even has to go through this. Because he has made the decision to use his voice to bring togetherness in a country so divided.
