La cabaña donde vivo y las que rentaba para mantenerme quedaron destruidas. Me quedé sin techo, sin electricidad, sin agua, sin internet y sin un refrigerador donde guardar comida. Pero lo más urgente: no tengo dónde vivir.

<div>Este lugar no es solo un hogar. Es un santuario de protección para animales y plantas, un proyecto de vida dedicado a la conservación del ecosistema costero. Aquí, las tortugas vienen a desovar, el mar Pacífico ruge de frente, y detrás, una laguna bioluminiscente. Es un lugar sagrado, vivo, y lleno de magia.

<div>Pero el mar ha desaparecido la playa. Además de reconstruir mi hogar, usaremos este dinero para reforestar la duna costera, una barrera natural crucial para proteger la playa y preservar el equilibrio del ecosistema.

<div>My name is Jorge, and a few days ago, a hurricane devastated what had been my home, my livelihood, and a small sanctuary of life. The cabin where I lived—and the ones I rented out to sustain myself—were destroyed. I was left without shelter, electricity, water, internet, or even a refrigerator to store food. But most urgently, I have no place to live.

<div>I’m not alone. I’m accompanied by my cat, Sole, and my dogs, Wilson and Pricho. They depend on me, just as I depend on this small piece of paradise: an island between the sea and the lagoon, in the heart of Lagunas de Chacahua National Park, Oaxaca.

<div>This place is more than just a home. It’s a sanctuary for the protection of animals and plants, a lifelong project dedicated to the conservation of coastal ecosystems. Here, sea turtles come to nest, the Pacific Ocean roars before us, and behind lies a glowing bioluminescent lagoon. It’s a sacred, living, magical place.

<div>But the sea has swallowed the beach. In addition to rebuilding my home, your donations will help us reforest the coastal dune—a vital natural barrier that protects the shoreline and maintains the balance of the ecosystem.
