<div>En seulement 10 minutes, il ne restait plus rien. À 18 h 45, mes parents étaient en train d'écouter la télé et, du coin de l'œil, ma mère a vu une lumière jaune-orange qui flashait dans le salon. Elle est allée voir par la fenêtre ce qu'il se passait et, en l'espace de quelques secondes, la fenêtre par laquelle elle regardait craque, la fumée rentre, le feu envahi l'espace et mon père n'a le temps de réagir pour ne sortir qu'une chose : un bac de vêtements. Ils avaient laissé dans la maison leurs portefeuilles avec toute leurs cartes d'identité, mais malheureusement, quand ils ont voulu retourner dans la maison les chercher, mon père à ouvert la porte et un mur de feu bloquait entièrement le passage.

<div>Ils n'ont pas pu aller récupérer leurs biens, comme toutes leurs possessions et souvenirs (reliques de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale, plusieurs journaux qui se faisaient remplir depuis 1985 tous les jours, photos souvenirs de leur enfance et de la mienne, photos de famille et de leurs parents), il ne reste plus rien.

<div>Heureusement, mes parents sont encore en vie et les animaux sont sains et saufs.

<div>De plus, la situation est encore plus difficile, car ma mère, entre autres, a vécu de très grandes difficultés a l'âge de 27 ans. Alors qu'elle entrait sur le marché du travail en tant qu'infirmière, elle a subi un AVC majeur qui l'a complètement paralysée de tout son côté droit, incluant son cerveau, l'empêchant de travailler pour le reste de sa vie. Malgré son handicap, elle a toujours essayer de générer son propre petit revenu pour la maison grâce à la couture et au tissage à la main et de façon artisanal. L'incendie a détruit toutes ses créations et tout son matériel.

<div>Aujourd'hui, ils doivent repartir à zéro. Les assurances sont quand même là pour aider, mais plusieurs choses sont irremplaçables. Chaque don monétaire ou don de matériel, peu importe le montant, représentera une brique pour reconstruire notre vie.

<div>Yesterday, Monday, July 6th, at 6:45 p.m., our house burned down. A terrible fire destroyed the house where I grew up and where my parents had lived for many years (40 years this winter).

<div>In just 10 minutes, nothing was left. At 6:45 p.m., my parents were watching TV when, out of the corner of her eye, my mother saw a yellow-orange light flashing in the living room. She went to the window to see what was happening, and within seconds, the window she was looking out cracked, smoke rushed in, the fire engulfed the space, and my father barely had time to react before he could pull out one thing: a bin of clothes.  They had left their wallets with all their identification cards in the house, but unfortunately, when they tried to go back inside to get them, my father opened the door and a wall of fire completely blocked the way.

<div>They couldn't retrieve their belongings; like all their possessions and mementos (relics from the Second World War, several newspapers that had been filled out every day since 1985, photos from their childhood and mine, family photos, and photos of their parents), nothing remains.

<div>Thankfully, my parents are still alive, and the animals are safe and sound.
</div>

</div>
<div>Furthermore, the situation is even more difficult because my mother, among other things, experienced great hardship at the age of 27. Just as she was entering the workforce as a nurse, she suffered a major stroke that completely paralyzed her entire right side, including her brain, preventing her from working for the rest of her life.  Despite her disability, she always tried to generate her own small income for the household through hand sewing and weaving. The fire destroyed all her creations and equipment.

<div>Now, they have to start from scratch. Insurance is there to help, but many things are irreplaceable. Every monetary or material donation, no matter the amount, will be a building block in rebuilding our lives.
