Reconstrucción de Haulover, Nicaragua

¡VAMOS A RECONSTRUIR HAULOVER! 

En noviembre de 2020, los huracanes Iota y Eta categoría 5 y 4, en la escala Saffir - Simpson, azotaron la Costa Caribe Nicaragüense.

El ojo de ambos huracanes se situó a pocos kilómetros y días de diferencias, siendo el huracán Iota uno de los más destructivos de toda la temporada. El ojo de dicho huracán paso sobre Haulover, una pequeña comunidad pesquera de 203 familias, ubicado a unos 56 km al sur de la ciudad de Puerto Cabezas.

Los pronósticos de vientos potencialmente catastróficos y paredes de agua de más de 3 metros fueron correctos: la comunidad quedó completamente devastada, ni una sola edificación quedó en pie, fue una pérdida total de los bienes e incluso del ecosistema natural, pero la devastación no quedó ahí. El paso del huracán abrió un canal (barra de agua) que partió la comunidad en dos: Haulover norte y Haulover sur, dañando todo el tejido social y separando a sus pobladores.

En HoraCero decidimos viajar a esta remota comunidad para retratar con mucho respeto la situación en que viven las personas de Haulover. En nuestro documental #BaikiSakan lograremos apreciar la destrucción material, el drama social y la urgencia de ayuda humanitaria para la comunidad.

A 4 meses del paso de los huracanes, el 98% de las familias han regresado a la comunidad, en la búsqueda de seguir habitando el territorio que es su hogar, bajo sus creencias, su cosmovisión y el trabajo de pesca que han heredado durante generaciones.

Estas familias han logrado construir pequeñas casas con restos de madera y materiales que han encontrado en los alrededores de la comunidad. Pero la crisis alimenticia no está resuelta: en estos meses, han vivido de la solidaridad de organizaciones benéficas y necesitan con urgencia reactivar sus labores productivas como la pesca y la siembra familiar para autoconsumo.

*VAMOS A RECONSTRUIR HAULOVER*

Convocamos a la solidaridad nacional e internacional para apoyar a las labores de reconstrucción de la comunidad de Haulover apoyando con la compra de:

-Instrumentos de pesca artesanal para la reactivación económica:

20 Atarrayas con un valor de USD60.00 (sesenta dólares netos cada una) a un total de USD1,200.00

10 Trasmallos con un valor de USD 200.00 (doscientos dólares netos cada uno) para un total de USD 2,000.00

-Cosas de uso doméstico para mejorar la calidad de vida:

100 Colchonetas con un valor de USD30.00 (treinta dólares cada una) para un total de USD3,000.00

100 juegos de ropa de cama con un valor de USD15.00 (quince dólares cada una) para un total de USD1,000.00




-Siembra

Semillas y tubérculos para siembra para un total de USD 3,500.00 (tres mil quinientos dólares)

Materiales y herramientas de siembra para un total de USD 1,300.00 (un mil trescientos dólares)

Las donaciones serán canalizadas a la organización de base con trabajo en más de 50 comunidades de la Costa Caribe Norte de Nicaragua Prilaka y con los liderazgos comunitarios.

HoraCero busca visibilizar el drama humanitario que vive la comunidad pero también la importancia de una reflexión sobre la Nicaragua que queremos construir una Nicaragua multicultural, multilingüe y plurinacional, una Nicaragua que vaya más allá de la concepción mestiza homogénea, pueden conocer más sobre la Costa Caribe aquí :point_down:

* LET'S REBUILD HAULOVER *

In November 2020, hurricanes Iota and Eta category 5 and 4, on the Saffir - Simpson scale, hit the Nicaraguan Caribbean Coast.

The eye of both hurricanes was located a few kilometers and days apart, with Hurricane Iota being one of the most destructive of the entire season. The eye of the hurricane passed over Haulover, a small fishing community of 203 families, located about 35 miles south of the city of Puerto Cabezas.

The forecasts of potentially catastrophic winds and walls of water of more than 3 meters were correct: the community was completely devastated, not a single building was left standing, it was a total loss of assets and even the natural ecosystem, but the devastation did not remain there. The passage of the hurricane opened a channel (water bar) that divided the community in two: North Haulover and South Haulover, damaging the entire social fabric and separating its inhabitants.

At HoraCero we decided to travel to this remote community to portray with great respect the situation in which the people of Haulover live. In our documentary #BaikiSakan we will be able to appreciate the material destruction, the social drama and the urgency of humanitarian aid for the community.

Four months after the hurricanes, 98% of the families have returned to the community, seeking to continue inhabiting the territory that is their home, under their beliefs, their worldview and the fishing work they have inherited for generations. .

These families have managed to build small houses with remains of wood and materials that they have found in the surroundings of the community. -Artisanal fishing instruments for economic reactivation:

20 Stingray with a value of USD60.00 (sixty dollars net each) to a total of USD1,200.00

10 Trasmallos with a value of USD 200.00 (two hundred dollars net each) for a total of USD 2,000.00

-Household items to improve the quality of life

100 Mats with a value of USD30.00 (thirty dollars each) for a total of USD3,000.00

100 sets of bedding with a value of USD15.00 (fifteen dollars each) for a total of USD1,000.00

-Harvest

Seeds and tubers for planting for a total of USD 3,500.00 (three thousand five hundred dollars)

Planting materials and tools for a total of USD 1,300.00 (one thousand three hundred dollars)

Donations will be channeled to the grassroots organization with work in more than 50 communities on the North Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua Prilaka and with community leaders.
