Desde hace varios años, la Escuela de Ingeniería de Petróleo de la Universidad Central de Venezuela atraviesa por una profunda crisis económica que no hace más que reflejar la situación actual del país.
La falta de insumos suficientes, la deplorable condición de equipos de apoyo para las clases y la decadente infraestructura han puesto en riesgo la práctica de la enseñanza en nuestra institución. Cada vez es más difícil para profesores poder impartir a los estudiantes una educación de calidad debido a las muchas carencias existentes.
El motivo de la creación de esta página es el de solicitar apoyo externo ( a través de la red de egresados y otros) para poder comenzar a darle solución muchos de los problemas de la escuela. Estamos conscientes de que las necesidades son muchas, por lo cual hemos decicido realizar campañas anuales que permitan ir solventándolas de manera gradual en base a el nivel de prioridad de las mismas. El monto total de la presente campaña representa un estimado total de lo que costaría darle solución a la mayoría de los problemas. En este sentido, cada contribución, sin importar lo pequeña que sea, puede ayudar al desarrollo académico y profesional de muchos estudiantes y profesores.
Actualmente, son varias las necesidades de la escuela. Algunos equipos no funcionan o tienen un desempeño muy pobre; otros simplemente no existen. Por favor, vean el video que tanto estudiantes como profesores grabaron para que puedan evaluar por ustedes mismos la situación.
Entre las necesidades más inmediatas, se encuentran:
Mantenimiento y reparación:
- Trabajo de impermeabilización del Módulo B en el edificio.
- Reparación y/o tapicería de 80 sillas.
- Lavaplatos de laboratorio.
- Recarga de bombas de Nitrógeno.
- Reparación/mantenimiento de equipos de aire acondicionado.
- Reparación de filtros de agua.
- Compra de bombillos de 40 Watts.
Compra de equipos de Video Beams (proyectores). Los actuales se encuentran inoperativos o tienen mal desempeño. Su reparación sale más costosa que la compra de nuevos equipos.
Compra de 2 impresoras.
Compra de 2 routers.
Compra de 8 pizarrones acrílicos.
Compra de material de oficina: resmas de papel, marcadores, bolígrafos.
Los fondos que sean recolectados en esta campaña serán destinados a dar solución a las necesidades arriba descritas. Muchos de ellas, especialmente las relacionadas a equipos electrónicos, serán compradas en tiendas online en los EEUU y posteriomente enviadas a Venezuela por courrier.
A fin de brindar transparencia en cuanto al uso de los fondos, se enviarán actualizaciones en la medida en la que se haga uso de los mismos. Fotos, videos y/o mensajes a través de la página serán las vías de comunicación. La idea de esto es que cada donante sea capaz de ver el impacto final de su donación.

Hi to all visiting our website. Thanks in advance for taking the time to check out this initiative.
The deep socioeconomic crisis going on in Venezuela has severely impacted both the quality and access of Venezuelans to existing public services. Public education, a sector that has historically produced some of the most talented professionals in the country, is currently on the verge of collapse as universities lack of enough human and financial resources to address their needs.
The Petroleum Engineering School of the Universidad Central de Venezuela does not escape from this reality. Crumbling teaching facilities that have not been repaired/maintained in years and the deplorable condition of existing equipment in labs and classrooms, have drastically deteriorated the quality of the education imparted to our students. Damaged ceilings and walls, poor-performing video beams, printers, routers, chairs, blackboards, are some of the equipment that the school is in need of to operate on a regular basis.
This campaign has been created with the objective of asking for external support (through our alumni network and other groups/individuals) that allows us to start addressing some of the major issues we are currently facing. Since the school’s needs are numerous, we have decided to carry out fundraising campaigns once a year in order to gradually address the problems based on their priority. The goal amount for this campaign represents an estimate of the total cost to solve most of the issues identified to this day. In that sense, please keep in mind that any contribution, regardless of the amount, will be extremely valuable for our school and will contribute to the academic and professional development of our students and professors.
Please, find below some of the main needs identified as of today:
Maintenance/reparation of:
- Ceiling/roof waterproofing.
- 80 chairs for classrooms.
- Sinks in the labs (currently out of order).
- AC systems (currently out of order).
- Potable water fountains (currently out of order).
Purchasing the following equipment:
- 4 Video beams. The ones available at the moment are out of order of perform very poorly. Based on market research, their reparation would be costlier than the acquisition of new projectors.
- 2 printers.
- 2 routers.
- 8 Acrylic whiteboards.
- Office-related material: pens, paper, markers.
The funds raised during this campaign will be used towards solving the needs described abovementioned. Some of the equipment will be bought online on US stores and then shipped to Venezuela as they are not available in the country or their cost is significantly higher.
In order to ensure transparency throughout the whole process, we will be posting updates as we start receiving donations. Photos, videos, and/or messages will be used for this purpose. The idea is to show donors the final impact of their donations.
