Starting Business after Recent Layoff

My name is Nicole and I have started this fundraiser for my husband, Alan.  The last two months have been incredibly trying to say the least.  In February, I lost my father to a heart attack.  Two days prior, there had been a bad snow blizzard and my husband had an accident and totaled his GMC Envoy.  Fortunately he was not hurt and there were no other vehicles involved.  We had no choice but to get another vehicle so he could get to work.  For the past 16 years he was employed as a Painter for a hospital in Center City Philadelphia. ( We reside in New Jersey. )  On April 4th my three sons and I set out for Uniontown, PA to put my dads ashes at his home like he had wanted.  Just as we left,  my husband called and told me he and almost 200 other people had been laid off.  After talking about the situation, looking at the few options we had, and the outpour of encouragement from family and friends, decided to start "Alan's Painting".  My husband has been painting since he was very young and has done nothing but ever since.  He was fortunate in the fact that his father was and a Painter and taught him the trade.  Prior to moving to New Jersey, my husband and his father were kept busy in AZ with custom work in high end homes solely by word of mouth and referrals.  I know you are thinking, "well of course you are going to say he's good, he's your husband", lol, but this is not the case.  A  side job for a family members friend has turned into him scheduling into May already.  However, the little money we had that we could've used for this venture has now gone to surviving (just finally able to purchase a home last June) .  A tax return would have been helpful also but the company that bought the hospital Alan was laid off from, messed up the NJ employees tax withholding.  The local tax for the city was withheld but not NJ state tax and consequently left the NJ employees footing a bill.  We want to be a fully licensed and  insured company.  And not to be all nostalgic, lol, but also a family business, as my husband has been teaching our youngest son.  I am reaching out in hopes to raise money to cover the insurance, legal and filing fees and remaining equipment/supplies needed .  Any help would be so greatly appreciated.  We are not looking for pity or handouts, but rather a little help  so we can continue to be the hardworking people we are and not lose everything we have worked so hard for .  Thank you so much!
