Rebuild on da Bayou

To say the least, 2012 has been a hellacious year for my family.  In June of this year, my legendary grandfather of 92, passed away in his boat while fishing in Bayou Des Allemands, leaving his family and dearly beloved wife just shy of their 70 year anniversary.  

Shortly after, we found ourselves barracked up fending off hurricane Isaac, lifting furniture and sandbagging relentlessly as we tried to save as many homes in the neighborhood as we could.  Although much of the area was devastated by the storm, we inched by with only minor damage.

But just after the storm steered to the north, a horrible fire erupted in my families house, destroying nearly everything they own, and leaving my grandmother displaced away from her home.  Thankfully, my uncle and aunt in Amite graciously took her into their home, while my mother and father took up temporary residence in an RV sent with love from my grandparents in Georgia.

However, persevering through this tragedy, my father has taken it upon himself to rebuild what the fire destroyed and to reconstruct the house to its original state, a truly noble feat.  His ambition is to restore the house enough so that my grandmother may be able to return for Christmas this year.  At this point, we have wood and tar paper over about 1/3 of the house, but funds are running out quickly, and the potential to reach our goal is diminishing.

Although we are greatly thankful to have had several volunteer "work days" to help remove the debris and haul it away, my family is now faced with the overwhelming costs associated with rebuilding and taking on such a daunting task.  

So now, I am humbly asking you all, for a donation of whatever you can afford to help us achieve this goal.  All donations received will go directly to the rebuilding of my families home.
