Rebuilding Tornado Clean-Up of Red Haw State Park

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Michelle Tull (Rush). My family and friends spent a lot of time at Red Haw State Park in Chariton, Iowa. On March 5, 2022, a F-3 tornado came through and destroyed Red Haw State Park, making it impossible to use. My late Grandfather, Keith E. Allen, was an Iowa DNR Park Ranger for Bob White State Park for many years. He also worked at Red Haw. There were several Rangers that were part of the Park family, who most of which have now passed on or retired.

The damage has closed for the foreseeable future; Bonnie Friend (Park Ranger) says she is overwhelmed with gratitude for all the people reaching out to see if she is okay and wants to know how to help clean up! They are closing the park gates.

The Park Supervisor has agreed to allow GoFundMe to help raise costs for clean-up and, of course, re-building the park to get it back in working order as soon as possible.

If you wish to donate, you can do so on here or by Check.
Checks should be made out to:
Iowa Department of Natural Resources - Red Haw State Park
You may mail those directly to Red Haw State Park
Red Haw State Park
24550 US Highway 34
Chariton, IA 50049

After donations have been collected here, all funds (minus the fees from GoFundMe) will be presented to Bonnie Friend (Park Ranger).

Please, for nature, for the community and for nostalgia to be replaced for the sense of being "Home" when visiting, donate if possible. Wildlife now do not have the comfort of being bedded down (deer) and there won't be a 4th of July celebration unless we can get the park back up and running.
