Rebuilding Sara & Megan's Farm

Donation protected
Our friends need help. Sara Vazquez-Melendez and Megan Luczak have spent the last several years of their lives nurturing their organic farm on ground rich with family history and working to strengthen their community through education, supporting and growing local farmer's markets, as well as interaction with a variety of other local groups.

Recently, Sara and Megan recieved their first students from Western Illinois University as part of a grant featured in this article http://tspr.org/post/making-world-safe-human-differences and their program is discussed on this page http://www.wiu.edu/news/newsrelease.php?release_id=12003 .

Hurrican Maria destroyed their farm and they are in need of our support to begin rebuilding and nurturing the work that is so important to them, their community, and the environment.

To help our friends I have set an initial goal of $2000 broke down into four parts below:

Goal #1: $500 to replace the roof on their home. The entire roof was damaged. Right now tarps are covering it till it can be replaced.

Goal #2: $500 towards cost of living. The farmer's market was their soul income. It has been shut down and they are back to square one to rebuild the market as well. They will be without income for quite some time to come.

Goal #3: $500 to replace the door, provide mold remediation, and paint for mold prevention once cleaned. The entire home suffered water damage and needs to be cleaned then painted, inside and out.

Goal #4: $500 for seeds, potting soil, and materials to build terraces. Due to landslides and other damage to the land, terraces will be the best way to start rebuilding the farm.

A list of supplies for donation are:
-Dr. Bronner's soap lavendar or rose in liquid and bar form.
-Seeds for planting. Any vegetables, herbs, or flowers (the bees need help too). We ask that all seeds be organic non-hybrid.
-Water filter system (not for a faucet).
