Rebuilding Lives, Igniting Opportunities Support

Hello everyone, I am a 36-year-old mother from Taiwan. I am in desperate need of funds to rebuild my family and my life. In 2013, I started a small business with my ex-husband. However, from 2019 onwards, his gambling addiction caused constant fights between us. When I took my eldest son to Hobart for his education and immigration to Australia, my ex-husband abruptly closed our shop without my knowledge and fled back to Taiwan, leaving us behind. Overnight, I lost all sources of income and had to use my savings to pay the remaining salaries of our employees, breach of contract fees at the mall, and refund the gift vouchers purchased by customers.

During that time, I was also pregnant with my second child. Our lives spiraled into immense hardship. We struggled to pay the rent, and our credit card debts kept mounting. Some friends loaned me money, trying to help me get through until after the birth of my child so that I could resume work and rebuild our lives. In November 2019, my baby was born.

I made several attempts to improve our situation. I worked on a farm, opened a café, and participated in St Food Market. However, the outbreak of the pandemic two months later forced me to suspend these endeavors. The debt continued to accumulate, and I found myself unable to pay the bills.

Both of my children were born in Australia, but they still do not have access to Medibank, and we lack permanent residency status, which means we do not receive any government assistance. I tried reaching out to various government departments, but due to our non-citizen status, we were unable to receive any help.

Eventually, we were evicted from our home by our landlord and had to seek temporary shelter with friends. With the support of friends and the church, I managed to get through those challenging times with my two children.

Currently, I am working as a temporary staff member at a 4.5-star hotel's Day Spa. Additionally, I have rented a room where I provide remedial therapy massages and beauty treatments. Now, I have a great opportunity to rent a small shop in the town center and start anew.

I am seeking your assistance to give me a chance to earn more money with my own hands, so I can repay my credit card debts, outstanding bills, and the money borrowed from friends.
