With streets blocked and no way to drive, he was forced to navigate the debris-strewn paths on foot, racing against time to reach his loved ones. The anguish of losing contact heightened his panic until, after more than an hour of harrowing journey, he found his mother and children huddled together in the basement—wet, scared, and crying.
