Rebuilding Dogs Aid Sanctuary

Hello everyone! We have great news!

After years of applying for planning permission, we've finally got the go-ahead to start rebuilding our sanctuary! Construction will begin in the coming days. We are so excited and so grateful to all our supporters as this project would never have been possible without your generous donations - as well as the incredible bequests left to us by a small number of animal lovers. Dogs Aid is run entirely by volunteers so we are touched when we see how many people care for animals as deeply as we do.

Times are tough and we understand if you are not in a position to give. We are already so grateful for all our supporters have done for our animals over the years. Any like, comment or share is greatly appreciated as we really want to get the word out there!

So what will my donation go towards?

  • Raising the level of the sanctuary & fixing the drainage (We have flooded in the past!)
  • Erecting permanent fencing around the perimeter of the shelter to keep our animals safe & secure
  • New kennels so our lovely dogs have more space to stretch their paws and are better sheltered from the elements

The more money we raise, the more we will be able to do! We really hope to erect a new barn & yard as well as more runs for the dogs to play in but will have to see how far our funds will stretch.

A little bit of background...

Dogs Aid is a charity set up by three ladies in 1987 to help dogs that were unwanted and abandoned in Dublin, Ireland. Since then we have helped rehabilitate and re-home thousands of dogs and cats.

We have come a long way since our early days in the Ballymun flats, having secured land, built kennels, a cattery and a barn.

Dogs Aid has a no destruction policy so we never put a recoverable dog or cat down, and as a result the sanctuary is a permanent home for many forever dogs & cats that are “too old or too bold” to be re-homed. From the beginning Dogs Aid has been 100% voluntary. None of the volunteers receive any payment or money for expenses.
