My name is Maribeth Wright. I am writing to share the heartbreaking news that my oldest friend in the world, Anthie Cassaras, tragically lost her home, cat, and everything else due to the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene. She shared her home of 55 years in Shore Acres with her very elderly mother, who is now in a nursing home. The night of the hurricane, they floated in chest-high water, barely making their way to spend the rest of the horrific night at their next-door neighbor's flooded home. Their home was completely destroyed and will be leveled. Unfortunately, they did not have flood insurance and have yet to receive any assistance from FEMA. Sadly, she has not been able to even see her mother since the night of the hurricane.
Anthie now finds herself completely alone with no help from family. She is in temporary, indigent housing, and I'm hoping to help her in any way possible. She is starting from scratch, trying to rebuild her life with absolutely nothing. I'm reaching out to you today to ask for your support in any way possible, whether through donations, sharing this campaign, or keeping Anthie in your thoughts and prayers. Those of you Canterbury School folks that remember her know that she is funny, loyal, giving, and proud, and really would never want to ask anyone for help. But, desperate times call for desperate measures.
No amount is too small, and every donation will help bring her closer to recovery. Thanks for your compassion, love, and support. I'm hoping together we can help Anthie rebuild and find hope again after this tragedy.
Maribeth
