Over the last 5 years, Campowerment has called Malibu’s Camp Gindling Hilltop home. We held 16 retreats there, empowering nearly 2,000 people to transform their lives.
When we headed up to Malibu on Thurs, Nov 8 to prepare for Campowerment’s* 23rd women’s empowerment retreat, at Camp Hilltop, we could never have known the deadly and historic Woolsey Fire was just hours away from destroying our beloved camp.
We are so lucky to have been forced to evacuate before the rest of our 160 Campers + staff were set to arrive the following day.
In this fire, we lost Camp Hilltop (a sacred place for so many communities that mean as much to their people as ours does to ours), as well as our company’s material possessions.
When we founded this movement in 2013, the team behind Camp Hilltop became the first to believe in the dream we had for what this community could become, before we ever even knew who’d show up to be in it. Camp Hilltop gave us our first shot. It’s here we set down roots that have grown into something beautiful, supportive, and, even more than ever before: STRONG and powerful.
Now, much is gone in the blaze of that fire, but our spirit will remain and grow. We are moved beyond words by the love and support pouring in for us + the extension of our family at Hilltop.
You’ve all asked what you can do to help, and the truth is: we need your financial support.
Since day 1, in every location we've ever inhabited, we've built a community of people who are FOR EACH OTHER; who lift each other up. If Campowerment has been in your corner, empowered you, helped you find a love for yourself anew, paved the path to your discovering the best friends you would never in a million years have met...please help lift up Campowerment to its peak, again and s’more.
Your contribution will allow us to find a new special space to bring to life this retreat for those who planned to be with us this weekend. And more, it will empower us to go back to Campowerment's foundation to strengthen and rebuild, to last.
We’ll also be contributing a portion raised towards the rebuild efforts at Gindling Hilltop Camp.
