Update on our story

On May 24, 2018, Tutu Pele found it prudent to take our home, our enchanted cottage. It may sound strange, but the entire process reminded me of the Dylan Thomas poem: "Do not go gently into that good night":

"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

Our cottage did not go gently into the good night, it stood despite fissures and lava, and it held for weeks while the world around it collapsed. It stood long enough for Tim and me to go and say goodbye, thanking the cottage for its service.

Now she is gone. You can read our whole story in the Star-Advertiser .

Tim and I still need to "rebuild," but now we need to do so in a more profound way. Like our cottage, we do not plan on going gently into the good night :)

Depending on the resources we can gather, we will either settle on O'ahu, the Big Island or in Utah. While these choices may seem like strange, almost opposing options we have family in each place. However, each option will take a different set of resources.

We did have insurance on the house lost to Pele, but if the coverage comes through, we will only receive a portion of the property's worth. So we are still asking for your help if you have the resources to spare.

Again, Tim and I thank you sincerely for all the kind words and help received from friends, family, and strangers.
