Rebuild Yoga Souk in Beirut, Lebanon

Donation protected
The explosion in our home city of Beirut has created such a deep sense of calamity, heartbreak, anger, loss, overwhelming grief, and has thrust upon us the unimaginable task of rebuilding the city and country amidst economic crisis and ongoing corruption and negligence from the government.

And amidst these extraordinarily difficult and dangerous circumstances, there have also been, and continues to be, incredible organizing efforts, powerful protests, and beautiful moments of communities supporting and uplifting one another.

We want to share our deepest gratitude to the numerous Bodhisattvas - beings who vow to alleviate the suffering of others - and organizations who make up this city and who are working tirelessly to be there for our most vulnerable communities in these desperate times.

While it is vital to support large relief organizations for emergency funds, we believe it is essential to support the deep-rooted small local organizations, businesses, and spaces - from cafes to hardware stores, community centers to places of worship - that will sustain community, vision, life, equity and rebuilding of our city in the present and into the future.

TO OUR GLOBAL COMMUNITY: In an effort to unburden additional strains on the community here, we are asking for your support in rebuilding - piece by piece - the yoga school. We have created a campaign to supplement the funds raised by sister shalas and practitioners from around the world.

The current forecast for rebuild (windows, doors, equipment, lighting, power source) at approximately $20K is based upon three different estimates from contractors. Transparency is key and we will continue to update donors on the status of the rebuild.

Anything helps. Please consider donating. Or if you are unable to donate, please consider sharing with your family, friends, co-workers. This is truly a global community rebuilding.

We remain steadfast in these ancient practices to heal and transform society. We look forward to the day when we can welcome each and every one of you to our sanctuary and to our beloved city and country.

May we support and uplift each other. May we rise towards something greater...

In peace and solidarity,

Yoga Souk Family
