Rebuild Wilson’s Run Trelawny: Help Hurricane Victims

My name is Christopher Russell , my family and many neighbours were severely after Hurricane Melissa .
We live in a small District called Wilson’s Run in southern Trelawny , Jamaica .
We want to raise funds to assist everyone affected in this community in every way possible .
Most have lost roof , household items , food, clothing and our farm that is our livelihood.

We are cut off and so we have asked family members to assist us in every way especially in communication to get our situation out there to get immediate help.

Jamaica is in the tropical zone and we have a hurricane season from June 1 to November 1 every year .

So basically every 6 months we have to prepare for a Hurricane or two and we will never know its strength .
This is the first category 5 of this magnitude to hit Jamaica and cause this much damage
.
We had Gilbert in 1988 a Category 4 that caused historic damage and Beryl in 2024 Category 4 that caused significant damage as well.
Many others came but these were most impactful

We would like to assist as many homes as possible is getting the roof slab with cement and steel instead of zinc and wood .

Many Jamaicans build homes with cement and steel roofs but most cannot afford it and choose the cheaper route of zinc and wood which is not safe when a hurricane hits .

We would need to get steel and boards and create a bed on he roof ready for the pouring of the cement mix . Then the cement company sends a truck with mixed cement , sand and stone to pour on the roof and they charge quite a bit for one journey .

If we have the funding we can hire a few trucks at a time and do more homes per trip .
We would also like to help persons replace their windows that were shattered ,get mattresses , sheets and essential household needs that was destroyed .
Food is also a priority and supplies for the work to be done as well as setting up somewhere to store items.
It’s a big task but we will come together as a community and lend the support one mail at a time , one roof at a time and show love to each other .

Hurricane Melissa a Category 5 with 195 mph catastrophic force winds made landfall in Jamaica on Tuesday October 28th, 2025 early afternoon.

It entered St Elizabeth , went to Westmoreland, Trelawny and Manchester and exited St James. These were the four (4) hardest hit parishes.

All 14 parishes across Jamaica were also affected but those within 30 miles of the center were severely affected.

This island Jamaica has a very special place in my heart ❤️, it’s my home .

We are a loving , kind , full of laughter , love our music and a passionate kind of people.

The people here have just experienced a catastrophe, this has rocked them to the core, mentally draining .

No water , no internet , no light, no food for days .

Roof gone , household items washed away or soaked in mud from the floods. Loss of lives and road cut off as it broke away.

A family affected in another parish shared a small pack biscuit for the entire day …..

This is the same experience facing many affected families ?

Our death toll in Jamaica today ( Nov 1, 2025) is at 28 beautiful souls and it’s rising each day as search and rescue gets in the affected areas and locates our Jamaicans .

Let’s show our survivors that the world cares with our prayers , our love for humanity and whatever we can contribute, nothing is too small , we thank you for your support.

Wilson’s Run District is one of the many communities that the homes were badly and severely damaged. A home was washed away in the storm.

Persons lost most or all of thier household items to include furniture that got drenched in rain.

Individuals were displaced and had to seek shelter with neighbours that were also poor and in need .

We would like to assist not only my Grandfathers house but also other neighbours. As many as possible because they are all suffering from the same loss.

It must be mentally and emotionally draining as well. With children and elderly in need of help also.

My Grandfathers house was built about 70 years ago and this is the majority ages of the homes there.

Younger Individuals try to get on the Overseas Farm Working programs to improve living.

Wilson’s Run District , situated in Southern Trelawny, bordering Manchester and St Elizabeth with a population of about 859.

Their main source of income is from Agricultural farming and small cattle rearing to include chicken farming as well.

The steady income is generally below the average low income wages.

Majority of the homes are board houses with board and zinc roofs.

They are humble, kind and loving people.

They are in urgent need at this moment.

 Please, any assistance is appreciated.

May you be blessed in giving as well
