Rebuild the Roof for Refugees

We are the Refugee Resettlement Project at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish. We found we can best assist families (refugees waiting for their requests for asylum to be heard) by helping them find a place to live . The number of families in need continues to grow, despite current policies which stemmed the flow of refugees into our country. We have created a home for up to four families through a renovation of the rectory building at a parish in town. This is temporary housing until families can settle in and find a permanent residence.
We are happy to report our original need to rebuild the roof is met. Our team is now fixing and furnishing the inside rooms and we expect families to move in shortly. We have received help from contractors who have donated materials and time. Our volunteers are painting, spackling, cleaning, moving furniture in, and many have donated furniture and other necessary goods. Our volunteers are from all over town, from the Sanctuary Alliance, First Friends, from other church groups in Montclair and surrounding towns.
This will be an ongoing project that won't end when the building is ready and occupied. The families still need your support.
Our immediate need is for a washing machine and clothes dryer to install in the basement laundry room which will be a shared resource for the residents. Can you help with a small donation toward this next step?
We began our refugee work in 2017 when we sponsored two young men who arrived here after leaving Syria and spending five years in Thailand waiting for permission to come to the USA. Both are thriving in their new community and have joined our effort to welcome new families and individuals.
