We are the Refugee Resettlement Project at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish. We are working closely with Catholic Charities in Newark to create a safe temporary residence for up to four refugee families as they arrive in our community. But, the roof of this building needs replacing before we can offer them this housing. We have been able to keep the cost under $16,000 for the roof but we need help meeting this and other renovation expenses.
We began our refugee work in 2017 when we sponsored two young men who arrived here in June after leaving Syria and spending five years in Thailand waiting for permission to come to the USA. Both are thriving after settling in. We are also helping two families with their monthly rent while they find work to sustain themselves. The number of families in need continues to grow, despite the current policies which stemmed the flow of refugees into our country.
We found we can assist families best by helping them find a place to live as they acclimate to their new life. Please help us by donating to this very important cause.
This project must be started soon! Please respond today, thank you.
