Rebuild Odana Hills Park

Donation protected

Last spring, residents of the Midvale Heights neighborhood came home to a sad sight. Our neighborhood park was on fire. The rubber mulch of the playground was ignited and it burned so hot that it melted the steel and plastic. Our playground was destroyed. It was torn down soon after that and we have been without a park ever since.

Luckily the playground was insured and with the help of the Madison Parks Department our park will be rebuilt this spring. The process of designing the park has been excellent. It included many neighborhood meetings to provide input on what the park should look like.  The neighborhood kids were invited to the meeting and they shared their vision for what would make the park great.

The city landscape architect put together a beautiful plan and asked for final feedback from the kids. The kids were excited about the plan and with some guidance from the architect they shared some ideas of their own. They loved the twisty slide from the old park and wanted to keep that element alive in the new park, They also wanted to have some things to climb on and  had a fun idea to add a different style of monkey bars.

Unfortunately the insurance money does not cover the additional changes that the kids requested.  The kids are excited about their new park but don't want to lose the things they loved about the old one. We are asking for your help to create their dream park by adding larger monkey bars and a twisty slide.

Anything you contribute will make a big difference. This park will be in our neighborhood for years to come. The Odana Hills Park is an important part of our neighborhood community. The goal for this GoFundMe will cover the addition of both the monkey bars and the twisty slide. Since we are working in collaboration with Madison Parks Foundation it will also cover the processing fee for the Madison Parks Foundation to provide a receipt of your charitable gift of $50 or more to use for tax purposes.*

Please contribute whatever you can and share with anyone who you think would have an interest in supporting our neighborhood park. We appreciate your help and our kids thank you for helping to create a park where lifelong memories will be created!

*Note: Reciept only available for gifts of $50 or more. If you want to use the gift for tax purposes, please donate by Sunday 2/11/18. Gifts after 2/11/18 won’t be guaranteed a receipt.
