Rebuild Neptune Glassworks

Donation protected
I awoke early on March 29th to a call from a neighbor that my studio downtown had been burglarized. Someone had broken in through the back, opened the front roll-up door, and ushered others in. Looting continued throughout the night.

Our tools, machinery, kilns, molds, prototypes, and most of the supplies needed to run our business were either stolen or broken.  As devastating as the pandemic is to small businesses already,  we now have to scramble to replace all that was taken. With the decrease in incoming business during this time, this hits us especially hard. Not having the tools we need or a fully-functioning studio to return to is crushing; not only for me, but also for my team of six.

The tools I've collected over the past twenty years will need to be replaced. All the demolished molds we tirelessly produced will all need to be recreated. We will need to buy everything back or rebuild it from scratch. There are stimulus packages, insurance and loans, but these are slow to materialize and unlikely to be enough to recover the estimated $50,000 loss of what was stolen overnight.

To complicate matters, we were slated to move out by the end of April into a brighter, cleaner, safer studio space. When the pandemic spread, I decided to hold back on signing the lease and decentralize my team to work from home to complete current projects as best we could. As the pandemic subsides, we will need to pick up the pieces, move to a new space, complete outstanding orders, and begin again.

Still in a bit of a shock, we are starting this campaign at the suggestion of friends and colleagues, already reaching out to ask how they can help. We are forever grateful for our clients and friends in the design community who  have supported us, encouraged our ideas, and helped Neptune Glassworks grow over the past six years. I can't tell you how much your support has meant to me and my team. I am thankful to be in this position with so many people in my community to reach out to who believe in me, and believe in our work. We would not be where we are without your support, and we can't go on without you.

We really are all in this together.
