Rebuild Lesvos Island

Hi everyone, my name is Katerina Captanis, and I have created this fundraiser as a means to help the people of Lesvos, Greece - who are currently living a nightmare and watching their island burn.

The pictures I have posted were taken by my father George Captanis, who resides on the island. My grandmother and other family members also live there, and are sadly having to evacuate their homes and pray for safety.

On June 12, 2017, the island was struck by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake that completely destroyed the infrastructure of several businesses and homes of so many. The community has still been unable to recover from that disaster, and now this fire has spread just 5 short years later.

Those that live in Lesvos are the most kind and generous of any island I have visited, and sadly, they make most of their income during the summer, with what little tourist action is had.

Myself and my family will be going to the island in a month, and will personally distribute any fundraising we collect. We are so appreciative of your kind heart and hospitality. Thank you so much.
