<div>My name is Jenna Bond and I am starting this GoFundMe for my sister, <strong>Jillian Bernard</strong>. Jillian was involved in the Tickfaw boating accident on July 28, 2024, where she was badly injured. She suffered three hip fractures and a crushed knee. Since then, she has undergone several surgeries to try and give her some normal function back in her leg, to no avail. <strong>This fundraiser is to help her rebuild her life after amputation.</strong>

<div>Life can change in an instant. After facing a series of severe injuries and ongoing medical challenges, she has recently undergone an above-knee amputation. This will be the second year in a row that she has spent her birthday in the hospital due to surgeries concerning her leg. This surgery marks both an ending and a beginning — the end of years of pain and limitation, and the beginning of learning to live, move, and thrive again as an amputee.

<div>Recovering from an amputation is a long and complex process. Beyond the surgery itself, there are significant ongoing expenses: a properly fitted prosthetic leg, specialized rehabilitation and physical therapy, adaptive home and vehicle modifications, wound care, mobility equipment, and countless medical follow-ups. Insurance often covers only a fraction of these costs, leaving many essential needs unfunded.
