Please Help Rebuild Fiberglass Plus!
Hurricane Sandy has caused so much unbelievable destruction and has forever changed the lives of those who were in her path. The depth of loss is so severe and the thought of rebuilding still seems virtually impossible.
My family (like so many) was left physically unharmed but emotionally distressed. To lose the places that serve as the foreground to life's most important memories is unfathomable. All we can do now is come together to support those who need help-- big or small-- and start to rebuild.
My stepfather, Frank Vadurro, is a longtime resident of the NJ Shore. He started Fiberglass Plus, a small boat restoration business, in Pt. Pleasant over 20 years ago. Whether in the high or low season, Frank has stood tall as a hard-working, honorable, lovable man. He's the kind of guy you meet just once and can instantly feel a connection with, like an old friend you haven't seen in years. He's been a part of my life for over 25 years and I have never once heard him ask somebody for something-- he is the one who gives even when he has nothing.
On October 29, 2012, Fiberglass Plus was destroyed, washing away years of struggle and persistence and leaving an unrecognizable mess. From very basic tools used to upkeep local sailboats to intricate machines used to design and restore the most recognizable vessels on the Shore-- everything was washed away. On behalf of my family, I am asking for whatever you can offer, as small as it may be. It is difficult to write this and ask for anything, especially if you know the type of folks' that live in the Shore areas... they never ask for anything and always offer everything.
