Rebuild Burnt Down Music Studio

On the night of Friday 3 November, we received a call that the warehouse containing our studio was ablaze. After rushing to the scene, we watched the building - our second home - burn down in front of us. Twenty-five firefighters and a team of police battled the blaze into the early hours of the morning. Thankfully, no lives were lost.

What was lost, however, was thousands of dollars of high-end musical equipment that we used to write and perform. The studio doubled as a storage space – everything from analog synthesisers, microphones, pre-amps, guitars, drums and more was housed there. We were uninsured.
Apart from the material value of the gear, the fire destroyed nearly everything that my father, Roulf Commandeur, left to me when he passed from pancreatic cancer last year. Dad ran a professional recording studio that I inherited to keep his musical legacy alive.
The outpouring of support from friends, family and our musical peers has been truly overwhelming – nearly everyone we’ve spoken to has asked how they can help. That’s why we’ve set up this fund.
We plan to use any funds raised to get us back on our feet and making music again as soon as possible. We lost well over $50,000 worth of gear but are aiming to raise enough to get a basic studio back up and running. Not just for us, but also for our friends in the industry with whom we have shared our space over the years.
As a nod to Roulf, we'll be donating 10% of all monies raised to Blue Care, whose support was invaluable during Dad's fighting days. The work Blue Care does in Australian homes when tragedy strikes is incredible. They become part of the family, part of the battle.
