Rebuild and Restore a Home

Donation protected
Tuesday morning 5/29/18, our friend, Alonzo’s home and mine and my husband’s cabin burnt down to the ground while they were at work. I went outside on a whim and immediately heard what was the sound of a huge bonfire crackling and popping with vigor. It was unreal and unnatural. This was the most traumatic scene I’ve ever witnessed and experienced as there was absolutely nothing I could do to reverse what was happening. I was just hoping our cabin would be the only sacrifice as to then not start a more destructive forest fire devastating our neighbor’s homes. This was our hard work, time and energy up in the most devastating and unforgiving flames.
Alonzo is family, he is friend. My husband and I met Alonso under special circumstances and took him in as family when he moved to Homer at the tender age of 15. He’s lived and worked with us as  family while our lives have grown together. He too has a daughter, now 4 years old.
He has a hard work ethic and has grown to be an honorable young man, giving his life to raising his daughter and making a home of his own while always lending his efforts for the good of the whole.  He is a loyal man who has been dedicated to us over the years while we’ve been building up the land in cohesive efforts with several cabins  for family and  with one he has chosen to live.  Thankfully, his animals survived the fire.  He let his dog out for the day which is an “out of the ordinary” occasion.
I am starting this go fund me page to reach out to our community, loved ones and those willing to share what they can in order to lighten this misfortune and tremendous setback as he states he was just beginning to feel settled as he approaches his 30’s. Donations will help with immediate needs such as food, work clothes, replenish his daughter’s wardrobe and toys,  and tools lost in the fire. This is just an example of what your donation can help with. Eventhough my husband I have lost our cabin structure and Alonzo lost every possession in his home,  we are all so grateful for the fact that no life was lost and we are all still together, able to rebuild.  I believe that is such a positive platform to begin a new outlook.
We have a claim out with insurance but compensation doesn’t compare to all the possessions lost and the cost of constructing the cabin again. So, we are humble in asking for your help. I feel it’s inappropriate to ask for an amount when any amount that is given is appreciated, helpful and accepted with love and encouragement. The site wants a number, so I just threw a semi-realistic one out there. It’s actually not realistic because we all know what goes in and is apart of a home , so, thank you for your time in reading our story,
