Rebecca Burgess cancer treatment

Donation protected
5 years ago, just before her first wedding anniversary Becky was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation in her treatment. Following treatment she was given a clear diagnosis.  Against all odds her dreams came true when she found out she was pregnant. Her daughter Jordynn was born October 1st, 2014. They were later surprised when Becky became pregnant for the 2nd time. They had a boy named Cohen March 14th, 2016. In the Spring of 2017 Becky hurt her back at work and was diagnosed with an injury to her discs in her back. The injury continued to get worse and last week on August 25th, 2017, she was told she had cancer to her spine following a bone scan. She was referred to the Cross Cancer Institute September 1st, after testing and meeting with a Dr. there she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Becky has several spots of cancer along her spine and liver. The Dr's there could not provide an accurate prognosis but based on similar cases they estimate a 2 year survival term. Becky and Bob have decided to explore alternate options that have had promising results and are unfortunately not available in Canada and are not covered by healthcare.  They have booked to flights to Arizona and have a consultation with a clinic there and are exploring aternatives in Tijuana as well that may be able to provide some hope for them.

As an RCMP wife and paramedic Becky has dedicated her life to helping others.  Whether it's making sure RCMP members and their families have a place to go for Christmas dinner, or checking in on people who may need support, or just going out of her way to keep in touch with everyone she's ever met throughout her life, Becky puts everyone else first. Those of us who know Becky know what a bright spot she is in our lives. Shes an incredible mother and loves camping, travelling,  gardening, spending time at her parents farm, picking berries and making delicious jam, she never hesitates to invite her two little helpers along, as well as anyone else who wants to join.

Whether you are able to donate or not please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
