Re-bar is an iconic historical alternative theater and underground music nightclub that just celebrated it's 30th anniversary. We have a focus on LGBTQIA/ QTPOC events and create programming for underserved members of the community with emphasis on theater, music, and performing arts.
As an already at risk venue in the fastest gentrifying city in the US, the COVID19 situation has been devastating to the venue. We hope to reopen when it is safe and continue to provide a place for people to express themselves in a very special venue. Re-bar closed on March 12th indefinitely until the health crisis is passed.
We are reaching out to our family for help. We have a team of 17 employees and work with 30+ promoters to create the space that you know and love. On top of payroll, rent, insurance, and utilities- we are facing operating expenses that are beyond our range while we are temporarily closed.
We intend to reopen but are calling on your help today so that we may achieve that. We are calling on our family. If you've met a new friend there, if you've found yourself where you want to be, if you've laughed and cried there, if you can't live without it, if you found yourself on the dancefloor or lost yourself in the audience, we are here for you.
Funds raised will go to our staff and to cover operating expenses so we may continue creating a space for you to be you. If you are able to give today, we will be so grateful. Thank you!
