REAL FACTS AD No Orcem/VMT Vallejo

Donation protected
On January 14th there was a full page ad in the Vallejo Times Herald that claimed to list various "facts" in support of the ORCEM/VMT project.  The ad was grossly misleading about the effects the project will have on our community.

January 28, 2018, a group of concerned citizens created and placed a full page response ad in the Vallejo Times Herald.  The response ad countered each of their misleading statements, and outlined the REAL FACTS based on the Environmental Impact Report and other verified, documented sources. It also listed a large number of local businesses and organizations who oppose to this project,  that dream of a better plan for Vallejo, and are fighting to defend a safe and healthy environment for all residents.

The public response was tremendous, and your contributions enabled us to publish another full-page ad on February 11, 2018. This time we provided a list of phone numbers and e-mail addresses for our City Council members so that citizens can contact them directly with their opposition to the cement plant project. In addition, we printed informational flyers which were distributed at the Flyaway Festival on Mare Island February 10-11, 2018, at the Farmers Market, and at various businesses around town.

The support from all of you has continued! So we continue.

We have also run a full page on Sunday March, 18th, as well as a half page ad on March 21st.

We will continue to use all available funds to run ads and generate flyers to provide the facts to the community at large, and activiate Vallejoans to urge the city council to deny finally and completely this terrible project.

We do not want  a cement plant on our waterfront, its trucks destroying neighborhoods and endangering children, its dust and diesel particulates clogging our lungs. We are privileged to have  protected wetlands as part of our local geography. Let's harness that beauty to attract new residents and healthy businesses to Vallejo! Why pump massive amounts of pollution into adjacent areas? Why ruin our waterfront for a paltry number of jobs, none guaranteed for Vallejoans?  And when you consider the minimal and uncertain amount of revenue, compared to the costly upkeep of streets for big rig truck traffic, can we even afford this? Declining property values, and high project costs could send Vallejo back to bankruptcy.

Due to the continued public outcry and support for accurate information on the Orcem cement plant, we have expanded our list of action items. We will continue to get the truth out to the citizens of Vallejo. Please contribute today so we may continue to refute the corporate propaganda that is sure to arise from their attempts to get our city council to approve their project. VOTE in November and please vote now with your dollars. Please donate what you can to ensure that your voice and the greater Vallejo community are heard.

All funds raised by this campaign will be used to counter corporate ad dollars and instead run ads,  and other forms of outreach, communicating the facts to the citizens of Vallejo.
