Yep, that's what happens when you're virtually teaching at a NEW school. My name is Maryclare and I'm a Humanities teacher in Boston Public Schools. I've spent everyday with these kids for MONTHS now and I've never been in the same room with them. Nevertheless, I feel privileged to learn with them and love how different all of their personalities and interests are. 5th and 6th grade rock!
Some students can't get enough of reading and others have a hard time finding a book that keeps them engaged. It's been hard as an English teacher to get them excited about trying new books without our classroom library. Some students don't have physical books that are age appropriate at home. Others have read them all and need something new. Sure, I can suggest some books they can read online, but they NEED to get away from those screens every once in awhile. We're all pretty Zoomed-out.
We would really appreciate your help in getting these 41 kids 1 awesome new book each that they can own, read in REAL life, and keep in their homes. It would be such a wonderful surprise after a tough year and would encourage learning that can happen off the computers.
Thank you so much for your support and feel free to drop your favorite book from 5th or 6th grade! Our class book recommendations are pictured above. :)
