Keep Rea dancing in New York City
"I have had a passion for movement and art, from the age of 7 when I did my first ballet class.
Over the years I have grown to love the artistic and performance factor as well as the extreme hard work and dedication that has gone into refining such a beautiful yet complex art form.
Ballet is not just about dancing and performing, I have always felt that every moment spent in ballet class, rehearsal, or on stage assists my growth not only as a dancer and performer, but as an individual. Every moment of movement helps me express myself, push beyond my expectations, and open my mind to new concepts and ideas.
Ballet has gone beyond being a passion and something I love, I feel it is something I need to do in my life.
I have recently been invited to continue my training at The Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet in New York City, by the Artistic Director and former Prima Ballerina, Gelsey Kirkland, as well as my instructors Vera Solovyeva and Nikolai Levitsky who were invited to be a part of the faculty. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, to continue my training at a high caliber world class academy with world renowned faculty. I come from a loving and supporting family, that have been encouraging and supporting me to pursue my dreams and goals from day 1. However the expenses of training are extremely high, and funding for the arts is practically non-existent. The total amount that I need to raise in order for me to live and train in New York is, $80,000. We are raising the funds in increments of $12,000 per semester. With the support of many generous and caring individuals, I was able to come and train in NYC this season. However, the end of the year is quickly approaching, and without further support it will be very challenging for me to continue training at The Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet.
